Melat Kiros lives in Denver, Colorado. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics from Washington College in 2018 and her J.D. from Notre Dame Law School in 2022. She worked as a securities regulation attorney in New York before serving as communications director for a U.S. congressional campaign in Colorado’s 4th District. Melat is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Affairs at the University of Colorado - Denver. Her research focuses on how money in politics affects democratic institutions and a government's ability to meet its citizens’ basic needs. She joined the board to support the nonprofit’s mission of advancing food equity, aligning her academic and professional focus on systemic access to essential resources—including accessible, nutritious food.
